shanghai night

finally back home from shanghai! although it's just 2 weeks away from home, but i do miss my own bed.

shanghai is a food haven. i have eaten so much for the past 2 weeks that i have put on a few pounds. enjoying szechuan cuisine while watching the face changing performace, eating steamboat in a communist feel decor restaurant, having yakiniku in a french styled glass house with very good ambience (but the meal costs us on average SGD 100 per pax). oh yes, i really enjoyed the fatty meat which is so chewy that you don't feel like you are eating a piece of fat. of course, i felt really guilty after eating 2 pieces. i kept telling myself that it's time to diet and detox after i come back to singapore. obviously i haven't been able to do it so far.

and of course what is shanghai without shopping. imagine i tell you i didn't shop at all. but i must say i have really controlled myself this time. refraining from going too many places so that i don't buy too many things. my biggest achievement, bringing back bags which are almost enough to set up a push cart to sell. but the designs are all so cute and so cheap that you can't resist not buying. and i've got so many orders before i fly off to shanghai that i start to worry if my luggage will be overweight.


we were glad to be able to find the place where the vendors from xiangyang have relocated. but many shops were not opened yet so that has managed to save my wallet from becoming thinner. and i made myself 2 skirts too. the place that sells cloth has shifted too but we were lucky to find where it has shifted. the shops were selling all those fabric that i liked. i would have made a few more if i had more time there. but my mum didn't liked the blouse that i made for her. she said that it made her look too old. i felt quite hurt that she told me straight in the face she didn't like it and wanted to give it away. i had specially took an earlier flight to shanghai because i wanted to tailor made her blouse so that i could collect it in time. but there was no appreciation but instead a very frank comment which has hurt my feelings.

nevertheless, this trip to shanghai is definitely much better than the one i went 2 years ago. but if you asked me if i would stay there to work, i would firmly give a no.
