shopping in bkk

its finally the weekends..and its a long weekend! finally get to do some shopping.

1st stop: chatuchak.
we went there early in the morning to avoid the hot afternoon sun. so its waking up almost the same time as a normal weekday. had a hearty breakfast in the hotel before taking the bts down. when we got there, i was really lost. i ended up in the handicraft section and was looking ard for the clothes section. i walked up and down but just couldnt find it. i realised i have walked past certain shops a few times. saw the directory but being really lousy with directions, i couldnt figure out where is it. just continued walking and finally saw some clothes stalls. yeah...finally found the section!

realised couldnt really bargain much here. the most i could get is 20 thb per pc. its either my bargaining skills are really lousy or no bargaining nowadays. even when i walk away, the shopkeeper didnt called me back. anyway bot a few tees and some really nice cushion covers. no photos yet coz i didnt install the software in this comp to upload my photos. didnt bot as many things as the last time i went (which is like 5-6 yrs ago?...wow thats really long). but still very satisified with my purchases so far. =)

2nd stop: tailor
wanted to tailor some shirts.. went to a cheaper one recommended in the forum but those pple were bz and didnt bother abt us. anyway the variety of cloth was very limited, so we went to another more ex tailor (also recommended on forum). when i got there, i realised its really more ex...thot it wasnt really worth to tailor since its so ex althou it is cheaper than tailoring in singapore. anyway i dun really have the habit of tailoring my clothes and had not very good experiences so far. so decided not to do it.

3rd stop: suan lum night market
had quite similiar things as ctc like tees, imitation bags, handicrafts, bikinis etc. but definitely more ex! wanted to get some smurf tees but they actually quoted me 250thb when i bot a similar type in ctc for only 80thb! when i walked away, they actually reduced the price to 150thb. but i still thot was almost double the price so i continued walking. but most of the stalls selling the tees quoted the same price. one even quoted me 350! so ridiculous and he reduced it to 150 when i walked away. conclusion: things are more ex here and not really worth visiting.

went for the foot massage thou. 1 hr for 250thb. halfway through, started to rain and the roads started to flood. walked ard looking for taxis and after a long time, managed to get one. but he wanted 200 thb for a short trip back to hotel. not sure how much with the meter but i think it must be at least double if he wanted to take the chance to "chop" us. left with no choice as the rain gets heavier, we just had to take whatever is available =(
